On Managing Project Activities

Over the years, teaching & managing things have become more important. But, only in recent years, have I realized the value of planning to others.

Today, I sent a customer their first project gantt chart. When I submitted my reports, there was a feeling that my tasks were an accomplishment. The planning, booking meetings, and the timing of the schedule now all have a value attached because of these summary reports.

For this customer, they want to see, feel & touch accomplishments. The documentation while not the final product is a measure of the activity of project and the management of it. I've never really felt the need to measure this activity but certainly these physical objects enforce the concept that real work has been completed.

Especially in the internet world, where a website is abstract enough for people to understand much less the process of creating an effective one.

In this account, this should help our project significantly. At least, this is the hope.
